For 12 years the city of Amberg has been celebrating the element of air with the "LUFTNACHT". Once again, this event on the second weekend in September attracts thousands of people to look, marvel and be enchanted. Extraordinary sounds mix in the old town with unique attractions surrounding the otherwise difficult to capture air and spread a unique atmosphere in the air art town of Amberg. This year the focus is on the aerial installations by Australian artist Amanda Parer.
The highlight and headliner this year is the Australian Amanda Parer. The artist is bringing the world premiere of her series “same same”, which was produced especially for Amberg, to Vilsstadt. She stages her huge, illuminated aerial objects on the market square, Roßmarkt, Schrannenplatz and Malteserplatz. All objects are based on parts of the human body and show how similar we all are inside.
Another highlight awaits visitors to the air night with “Fort Comfort”, a 20m long fence made of ripstop nylon that stands up every one or two minutes and then collapses again. The work of art by Offenbach artist Moritz Urban can be experienced on Weinstrasse.
Max-Josef Zeller from Regensburg shows on behalf of the Amberg Lions Club that the topic of aerial art can be presented not only visually but also acoustically. For his installation in the hospital church, the "Audionaut" was inspired by the range of different breathing sounds and complemented them with appropriate lighting effects.
In the castle moat, visitors can once again marvel at the city and the aerial night from a special perspective during the popular crane ride. Of course, the Luftsportgruppe will also be presenting itself again, this time in Schiffgasse, and the regional companies' air technology will, as always, be the focus at Eichenforstplatz.
In addition to the art installations, a varied supporting program transforms the interactive art exhibition into an event for young and old: bouncy castles at the multifunctional area, numerous food and drink stands, DJs at several places in the old town and much more...
